Science doesn't happen on its own. It takes a diverse network of people, and we bring them together.
New York City has the highest density of leading healthcare, research and academic institutions of anywhere on the planet, and produces a massive amount of exceptional talent from these world-renowned institutions. There is tremendous momentum driving both academia and industry to help turn the Tri-State area into one of the world's leading hubs for the life sciences. A critical part of this is maximizing the talent produced, and developing it to make a significant impact.
GRO-Biotech (Graduate Research Organizations for Biotechnology) has quickly become a pivotal player in this endeavor by helping students understand the career opportunities available to them, how to prepare for those careers, and what they can expect from those careers. We also play an active role in connecting leaders in industry with the innovators of tomorrow in academia, effectively spanning the gap between them.
Join us for three days of exciting panel discussions and workshops, plus networking with peers and industry leaders who are creating the next breakthroughs in science and technology. We've put together an incredible lineup of speakers to discuss industry trends, career opportunities, and insight into the day-to-day of careers in sectors ranging from consulting, to synthetic biology, to science communication and beyond.
Note that registration for this conference is FREE.
Day 1 of of the 5th Annual GRO Your Career life science industry conference will feature two panels: Drawing and Sharing Insights, and The Nuts and Bolts of Consulting.
Drawing and Sharing Insights, will feature professionals from the realms of investing/finance, biotech startups, and big biopharma and focuses on the various ways people in and around the life sciences continue to leverage scientific understanding and methods of communication in their current roles, despite not working directly in a research environment.
The Nuts and Bolts of Consulting will bring together professionals from a wide variety of firms to discuss the diversity of consulting opportunities in the life sciences, from small, boutique firms to large, international management consultancies
Day 2 of of the 5th Annual GRO Your Career life science industry conference will feature one panel and two concurrent workshops.
In our first session of the day, we're excited to have two interactive workshops for you to choose from. One, with our good friend and career development coach Juliet Hart, will focus on SMART goals and the new landscape of networking and relationship-building online and via Zoom. The other will feature our friends from Scismic Job Seeker, who will be running a CV and resume workshop for students seeking biotech industry positions.
In our second session, The New Biotechnology, we'll be hosting professionals, entrepreneurs, and clinicians from the biomanufacturing and synthetic biology sectors to discuss biotech careers outside of the pharmaceutical space.
Day 3 of of the 5th Annual GRO Your Career life science industry conference will feature two panels: Nurturing the Life Science Ecosystem and Done With Pipetting, Not Science.
Nurturing the Life Science Ecosystem, will bring together leaders of the regional biotech community to provide an introduction to the opportunities at biotech incubators & accelerators, plus a look forward at the continued growth of the NYC metro area life sciences ecosystem.
Done With Pipetting, Not Science will bring together professionals from the realms of investment, business development, IP, and more to discuss careers that are science-focused but don't involve work at the bench.
Founded in 2015, GRO-ÂBiotech is a coalition of graduate biotechnology organizations from the top life sciences programs in the NYC region. Our mission is to fill the missing link between industry and academia. We do this through providing our members with opportunities to learn about areas of drug development, healthcare, business, and life sciences entrepreneurship, among others, that they might not otherwise encounter in a traditional science training program. We are helping to nurture the growing biotechnology scene in NYC through events ranging from casual social hours to half and full day conferences featuring some of the foremost thought leaders and biggest life science companies within the tri-state area and beyond.
